Send a child to school - ACHS 99 Scholarship Fund
St. Vincent’s Academy is located in Kauswagan, Lanao del Norte – a poor, war-torn area in Mindanao. St. Vincent’s Academy, together with the Religious of the Assumption, strives to educate the children of Kauswagan academically, emotionally, and spiritually. The children are taught the importance of seeking and keeping peace through various activities such as the yearly Peace Camps.
Keeping children in school gives them the education and skills they need to succeed in life. However, it is important to send children to schools such as St. Vincent’s Academy because there they are taught the values they will need to grow into good, peace-loving adults.
For Php 3,500, you can send a child to school in St. Vincent’s Academy for an entire schoolyear. Your contribution can change a child’s life and put him or her on the path to a peaceful, well-lived life.
Many of the children in Kauswagan are desperate to go to school but lack the means to do so. If you are interested in sponsoring a child, please send a message at achs99@gmail.com.

Have you had those days where you have no drive to do anything? I've been lagging on with my blogging lately, I know. It seems like I kinda lost my drive to blog. Maybe it's just a passing thing or maybe because my mind is pre-occupied with a lot of other things. I don't know... Maybe I just need to take a short break and get inspired again!

a Goody giveaway (Closed)
Remember I was raving about the Goody spin pin in my last post? I am still so obsessed with it until now. I don't reach for my ponytail bands anymore. The spin pin are my go-to hair holder now. It might look a little weird but I tell you it's really a miracle worker! No wonder everybody is raving about it! As with every new product you might need a try it a few times before getting a hang of it. Also, it might look daunting but have no fear I found a great step by step tutorial in how to use the spin pin HERE.
The Goody Spin Pin is getting a lot of great reviews from bloggers (Into the Gloss) to magazines (Harper's Bazaar)! Real Beauty (US) gave it a Gold Star Awards in 2010 for Brilliant Beauty Breakthroughs. "Just like any big project, the perfect hairstyle requires a vision and the right tools. So it's no wonder that Goody created these screw-like hairpins to take the difficulty out of creating the perfect stay-put chignon: Wrap your hair into a bun, and twist a pin into the style at each end. Just one pair is the equivalent to 40 bobby pins, which eliminates the needle-in-the-haystack-type search through your updo at the end of the night." Here's what Good Housekeeping Magazine (US) has to say about the spin pin: "Tiny hair tools as life changers...really? Our long-haired testers responded with a resounding yes. "These simple corkscrew pins held updo styles more securely and elegantly than twice as many bobby pins," says GHRI Beauty Lab Chemist Charmaine Gillespie. With the average woman spending more than 20 minutes every morning on her hair, even a little time-saving helps a lot. Testers raved that these mane tamers were invisible when anchored in hair and were a cinch to put in." They also included it to their Third Annual VIP (Very Innovative Products) Awards.
Well the wonderful people of Goody Philippines is giving away a pair of spin pin and a super cute paddle brush to a lucky reader of Fashionista Fortune Cookie!

bun-tiful life
I am the one of the most low maintenance girl out there when it comes to hair & beauty. Hey, I rarely even comb my hair! Hahaha. It's not that I don't like to look pretty and all. It's just that I am absolutely clueless when it comes to hair & beauty. I'd love to learn how to do make-up or braid my hair and those fancy hair things. So, imagine my surprise when Goody Philippines sent me a loot bag. Included in the loot bag was this interesting thing called "Spin Pin". It's this cool spiral thing that can make a messy bun in a few super easy steps. It's so easy to use and it doesn't hurt your scalp at all. I am obsessed with it now and I've been wearing my hair in a bun for the past few days ever since I got it. Hahaha.
Since it still feel like summer these past few days I decided to wear my sheer maxi dress in sherbet yellow. Nothing screams summer than sheer & colours don't you think? And I reckon yellow, cream & tan looks great together hence my outfit color palette.
You can see the Spin Pin poking out of my bun.

bow bow the boat
The 70's glam is a huge trend this 2011. The wide leg palazzo pants, pussy bow blouses, florals, floaty maxi dresses, and platform shoes were all over the catwalk. I decided to get inspiration from the 70's for my outfit. The main point is the sheer pussy bow blouse I got from SM! Don't you think that department store finds are the best!? There's always a rare gem in there. You really just need to find them. :) Paired my sheer blouse with a high waist tapered leg trousers and platforms to complete the look. Would have worn a wide leg pants but I can't find them in my closet. Hehehe.

Walk as one with the 2011 Havaianas Filipinas Collection
Fashion has become an avenue to express love for one’s country. As nationalism meets style, the Philippine archipelago, faces of former presidents, heroes, and other national icons are now widely used as designs to convey patriotic statements. And with more Filipinos around the world giving us reason to banner national pride, Havaianas is giving Havaianaticos another trendy option to showcase Philippine pride.
Since 2006, Havaianas has honored the Philippines’ rich and colorful culture with designs that embody the spirit of Filipino pride. This June, Havaianas joins the country as it celebrates its 113th year of independence with the release of this year’s Limited Edition Havaianas Filipinas Collection.
“This year’s Limited Edition Havaianas Filipinas Collection hopes to reflect happiness, carefree fashion, and good memories with the playful use of color and inventive patterns. These attitudes truly match the Filipino culture and even the brand’s cheery personality,” says Anne Gonzalez, Managing Director of Havaianas Philippines.
The Limited Edition 2011 Havaianas Filipinas Collection chose to play with the colors of the national flag. With the dazzling shades of blue, red, yellow, and white, fused with contemporary, street-graffiti prints, the result is a modern yet decidedly nationalistic fashion statement, letting all fashionable Havaianaticos walk as one.
Filipinos from Luzon can literally wear their heritage at their feet with Havaianas Filipinas Yellow, with the name “Luz” imprinted on its soles amid artistic splashes of red and blue. Meanwhile, Visayans can flaunt their nationalism loud and proud with Havaianas Filipinas Red. With intense red straps adorned with the same engraved flag and Havaianas logo, the name “Vis” is printed across its red soles, complemented with vibrant shades of blue and yellow. Those hailing from Mindanao can walk patriotically in Havaianas Filipinas Blue, with lively cobalt soles that feature the name “Min” accented with bright colors of red and yellow.
Each pair’s well-crafted strap carries a unique rendition of the Philippine flag engraved with “Pinas” next to the distinctive Havaianas logo.
Refreshing, stylish, and artistically crafted for all proud and fashionable Filipino Havaianaticos, this year’s Limited Edition 2011 Havaianas Filipinas Collection will arrive in stores on June 12, 2011.
Get your hands on all 3 designs of the Limited Edition 2011 Havaianas Filipinas Collection, available in All Flip-Flops, Celio, Complex, Duty Free Philippines Fiesta Mall, Gas, KidSports, Manila Polo Club, Moana, ROX, Rustan's, Stoked, Tick Tock Flip Flop NAIA Terminal 3, and Urban Athletics. Posting an old outfit photo from last month. This is what I wore for my husband's birthday. I love how the neons pop out in contrast with black. Since the dress is already bright enough I paired it with my black floppy hat & wedges.

bare bones
Remember when I said that I only bought one thing during the Bloggers United Bazaar? Well this is what I got. A ribcage necklace from OS! I promised my husband that I won't buy anything during the bazaar. That's one reason why I didn't really go around much lest I get tempted and buy clothes yet again. But I couldn't help not buy anything from OS. (Their necklaces were sold out by the end of the bazzar!) Their collection of bone necklaces are really unique and morbidly cute, don't you think? Their 1st collection is worth checking out! I'm thinking of getting myself another one. I really like the Bone Tie. I reckon it's another versatile piece of jewelry.
So I decided to pair my ribcage necklace with something cutesy so that they necklace would stand out. My sister even told me that she thought my top is cute not realizing that I was just wearing a plain black top.

frou frou
The clothes I'm wearing are my old clothes from a couple of years back. I recently unearthed them from my old clothes box in the attic whilst I searching for stuff to sell for Bloggers United. I love finding my old stuff. Like what they say: make old new again. It's like having new clothes without spending. Speaking of spending... I'm putting myself on a self imposed shoping ban for a little while. Seeing how much stuff I've acquired over the years of impulsive shopping made me realize that I still have a lot of clothes I've yet to wear. So yeah! Let's see if I can make it. No shopping for clothes or shoes for a month.
p.s. I'll anounce the winners of the Chicify giveaway this weekend! So wait for that! ;)
